Wow Airlines, My Experience

Headed to the terminal

Wow Air! is an airline based out of Reykjavik, Iceland that is a budget carrier, with everything on their planes costing money. Unlike a "first class" carrier, you have no luxuries, or even things people may consider standard, such as beverages, food or snack service, and nowadays in seat entertainment.

In addition to this, all bags except a small carryon are charged. Their business model is like Spirit Airlines, who are just terrible. I flew Wow Air! to Copenhagen out of Baltimore in September, and I was prepared for the worst, but hoping for the best.

All flights on Wow fly through Reykjavik, and you can extend your layovers here if you'd like, which is wonderful, as Iceland is great; my layover was only an hour or so each way. Out of many of the cities that Wow flies to, one can purchase round trip tickets to Iceland for $99.00, that is a deal. My flight to Denmark was around $500.00, which is expensive for Wow, cheap for almost anyone else.

The flight out was uneventful, and arrived in Iceland and then Denmark on time. I meant to buy some food in the airport, but there was nothing in the terminal I was in, bummersauce. I might have bought something on the plane, but I do not remember. The flight attendants were great, too.

The way back was a disaster for me, I purchased a hotdog in the Copenhagen airport, and it immediately destroyed the inside of my body. My two hour flight to Iceland was ok, but upon landing, my body had enough. I started to feel awful and could barely stand, could barely sit, and knew that hotdog was coming up at some point.

We boarded buses to get on the plane, and I stood on the tarmac as long as I could, as the cold air helped. I boarded from the back of the plane and asked the flight attendant for some bags as I knew the six-hour flight as gonna be rough on me. She brought me some bags as soon as I sad down, and before we had taken off, I filled one up. I got up when I could and threw them away, and asked for some more. She offered me some water and anything else I might need, and showed a real concern for me.

Over the course of the flight, I spent well over half of it in the bathroom, which at first was because I was feeling ill, whereas later, it was because there was more room, and I would not have to keep getting up and bothering my seat-mates. The flight attendant was spectacular, checking on me regularly, offering me water, and allowing me to just stay put while the body destroyed itself from the inside out.

Wow really impressed me with their exceptional service on this flight. Their planes are all pretty new and "comfortable" as well. When I say that, I mean for an airplane, no coach class flight is comfortable. I would, under almost any circumstance, fly Wow again, and so should you.
