My wife and I visited Egypt in 2009 and 2010, we were in Aswan, getting delicious room service over the New Year; it was just one trip. We visited Cairo, Aswan, Abu Simbel, and Luxor, flying and taking trains to get around. I fell in love with Egypt and the Egyptians, I knew that one day, I would make it back there.

In 2012, a friend wanted to visit, so I hopped on the chance to go back. I would be staying in Cairo for most of the time and before my friend got there, meeting up with a Flickr friend. Unfortunately, I've lost touch with the friend from Flickr and stopped speaking with the other guy. My time there with my wife was pre-revolution, my time there with my friend was post-revolution.

My friend, who was there studying, took me to places I would never have visited, including taking a bus to Alexandria for a few hours. I also visited the Pyramids for the second time. I would go to Egypt over and over and visit the Pyramids each time, and still get chills. Standing at the base of something that has stood there for the rise and fall of empires is amazing.

This trip was after their revolution, Morsi was their president, and people were prideful, they appeared happy that they had been able to force change. While tourism was still down, the people were not. I love Egypt and I hope the best for their people and their country.

Going back to write this, I really realize how far I have come with my photographs. While I'm not great, I have gotten better, and that makes me happy. In addition to that, my organization and shooting style has gotten much better. I stayed at the same place as I did previous, City View Hotel, which is right on Tahrir Square. I'd suggest them. It is directly across the street from the Egypt hotel and a metro stop. Their metro is good and efficient, also cheap.
