Paddling The Patuxent River
I had one day off this week so I decided to invite a friend to kayak on the Patuxent River. I loaded up my kayaks and headed down to meet him at Selby's Landing, this is where we would be leaving one car.
I was late getting here yet, Jacob still spent 20 minutes before he was ready to load up into my car, classic Jacob move. We then drove up to Queen Anne's Canoe Launch, which is 14 miles back up the river. To access the canoe launch you need a code to the combination lock, which you can get if you call the number on the site I linked.
We unloaded the kayaks, Jacob took another 15 minutes to be ready, and we were off. The overall paddle was 14 miles give or take some. It was a pleasant paddle with a stop for lunch in the middle, a stop for swimming after we crossed under Highway 4, and then a stop at Mount Calvert Historical & Archaeological Park. I normally get out at Jackson's Landing, which is a mile or so closer, however, it was closed for repair.
The paddle is along the well labeled Patuxent Water Trail. I only brought my P6x14 and Provia. I ended up shooting four rolls, which is 16 shots.
